The System

The Design

The first step to creating the green of your dreams is the design. Chesapeake Greens designers will work with you to develop a plan for a green that blends performance, aesthetics, and budget.
Performance: Whether you want a putting green that mimics speeds at you favorite course, or a green for practicing those tricky chip shots, we will choose the best installation and turf for the job.

The Foundation

A putting green is only as good as the base it is built on. Mirage Putting Green dealers have perfected an installation technique that is unique to the industry and will make your green last a lifetime. The majority of all synthetic putting greens are built on a compacted aggregate base. Chesapeake Greens and Mirage take this standard and go one step further. Our aggregate bases are treated with a uniquely formulated soil stabilizer that binds aggregate particles and creates a smooth, hard, asphalt-like surface. The benefits of this process are numerous:

  1. The base is more resistant to damage than a non-treated aggregate base.
  2. Once cured we can bond the turf directly to the base with a high strength adhesive. The standard in the industry is to simply fill the turf with sand or an infill product in order to weigh the turf down. Companies claiming to install NON sand filled turf are still adding large amounts of infill to the turf. The Mirage Putting Green System does not require this infill since the turf is bonded to the base.
  3. Bonding the turf with high strength adhesive makes seams more durable and helps the turf resist expansion/contraction with the seasonal temperature changes in this area.

The Turf

The performance characteristics of your green come from the turf. Your Chesapeake Greens Designer will determine the best turf for your performance and aesthetic requirements. All Mirage turf is NON SAND FILLED and is made in varying materials, thicknesses, and colors. Your designer will make the best choices for you based on all your needs. Mirage pioneered the development of NON Sand filled turf and has since been a leader in the industry. Through extensive research and development, Mirage continues to update its turf in order to offer the most realistic maintenance-free products.
